NIAR involved in SAMPE's Wichita conference

The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University (WSU) will participate in the 2009 Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) Fall Technical Conference & Exhibition to be held Oct. 19-22 at the Century II Convention Center in Wichita.

Titled “Global Material Technology: Soaring to New Horizons,” this year’s SAMPE conference will feature more than 175 paper presentations, six panels and a full-day AFOSR Workshop on Multiscale Modeling for Polymer Matrix Composites. Eight pre-conference tutorials will be offered at discounted rates.

NIAR research engineers Waruna Seneviratne and Yulia Kostogorova-Beller and NCAMP statistician Elizabeth Clarkson will each chair a session at the conference, as well as present papers with other NIAR/WSU researchers in various sessions.

In conjunction with the conference, NIAR is offering a tour of its facilities. SAMPE conference attendees who register by Sept. 30 will have the option to sign up for a tour of select NIAR laboratories.

NIAR will also join more than 100 companies and organizations in sponsoring a booth at the exhibition, along with material suppliers, machinery and equipment vendors, part fabricators, and engineering and consulting firms. Admission to the exhibit hall is free.

The Wichita Industrial Trade Show (WITS) will be held at the same time in the Century II Convention Center on Oct. 20-22.  A SAMPE exhibit badge may be used for admission to the WITS exhibition.

The SAMPE conference is co-located with the ASTM Committee D30 on Composite Materials, and will include a joint SAMPE / ASTM program on Damage Resistance of Composite Sandwich Structures.

Save $90 when by registering by Sept 30, or volunteer to help at the conference for a half-day, and receive a half-day registration free.

Additional conference sponsorships are available. For more information, contact Karen Chapman at 626.331.0616 (ext. 616).
