In 1861, feet firmly planted on Kansas soil at the brink of the Civil War, U.S. Senator John Ingalls proposed our inspiring state motto. These words, a source of strength and guidance for almost 150 years, also lead our vision for Kansas future: a 21st century shooting both literally and figuratively to the stars through scientific achievement. And a Kansas known around the globe as the Ad Astra State!

The goals of the Ad Astra Kansas Initiative are:

• To promote the use of our state motto to its fullest 21st century potential.

• To serve as an information hub featuring representative space-tech research, development and commercialization projects in Kansas for networking and educational purposes.

• To recognize cutting edge research being done in our state.
